How To Wear Dresses In Winter

Many of us find winter fashion a little tricky to accomplish with aplomb, struggling to marry serious style with keeping snug and warm… but it doesn’t have to be that way and there are all sorts of strategies you can employ that will ensure you always look your best, while staying nice and cosy at the same time.

Don’t hang up your favourite dresses just because the temperature has dropped. All you  need to do is make a few style swaps and switches here and there and you’ll find you can wear your favourite frocks no matter what.

Tights, of course, are one of your best friends at this time of year, so make sure you stock up on a few different kinds to help you rock your looks with ease. Knitted tights in a cable style will always be the height of fashion and you can even get fleece-lined stockings these days that will keep your legs lovely and warm, regardless of what dress you choose to wear.

Layering is a must in winter, naturally, and you can do this with dresses quite simply, just by pulling on a polo neck jumper to wear underneath. The high-neck look will always be stylish and you can mix and match with your choice of dress for a look that just won’t quit.

And don’t forget about your footwear. This can be practical and stylish all at the same time - and knee-high or thigh-high boots always look incredible with dresses of all lengths and cuts, keeping the cold out and gaining you style points all at the same time. Chelsea boots are another hugely popular winter option and these too look fabulous with dresses and skirts alike.

Finally, don’t be afraid to go for oversized shapes with your outerwear choices. Look to the catwalk for inspiration and ideas, and you’ll soon see that you can combine comfort with a luxurious look with relative ease. Have fun!
